The Second Robotech War was a conflict between the forces of Earth, primarily the Army of the Southern Cross and the Robotech Masters, in and around the planet Earth. The conflict began on January of 2029. The war results in the destruction of the Robotech Masters fleet and the accidental release of a vast number of spores from the Flower of Life, which spread across Earth. The release of the spores is detected by an Invid Sensor Nebula, alerting the Invid and eventually leading to the Third Robotech War.

Prelude to WarEdit

Prior to the start of the Second Robotech War, in 2022, the Robotech Expeditionary Force departs the Earth. Dana Sterling, daughter of Maximillian Sterling and Miriya Sterling, is about to graduate from the Military Accademy on the same day that the Army of the Southern Cross is about to go to war with the Robotech Masters. The Robotech Masters needed Protoculture Matrix that had been on board the SDF-1, as their own Protoculture reserves were exhausted.

First ActionEdit

The first battle of the war happened in 2027. (Robotech: The Movie) The Robotech Masters fleet arrives in the Earth's star system and initially take orbit around the plant Saturn. The Robotech Masters send a scouting force to investigate. Shortly thereafter communications between Southern Cross HQ and Space Station Liberty is lost.
