"Miss Macross" is the ninth episode of Robotech: The Macross Saga.

Lynn Minmei enters the Miss Macross Competition, but Rick Hunter again finds duty separating him from Minmei as he is sent out on patrol. The Zentraedi wishing to leave more about their new foe send out a reconnaissance mission that accidentally taps into the Miss Macross pageant!

The citizens of Macross City hold a beauty contest to boost morale among soldiers and civilians alike. Lynn Minmei is one of twenty eight eager and attractive contestants chosen from nearly four hundred applicants. Minmei's charismatic charm has already made her the darling of the SDF-1.

The Zentraedi pick up the beauty pageant broadcast and are mystified by what they witness. Their culture does not permit close association between males and females. The aliens are aghast to see Micronians of opposite sexes mingling with each other, actually touching each other. The concept of music, dance, and fashion are totally foreign to them as well. Breetai dispatches a reconnaissance squad to investigate.

When the reconnaissance vessel is detected by SDF-1, Rick Hunter is called from watching the mission, who takes a Battloid to intercept. Distracted by the Miss Macross broadcast, he barely dodges a salvo of missiles. The three spies Rico, Bron, and Konda are nearly destroyed by Rick Hunter, barely reaching the escape pod before Rick boards their ship. They return to the Zentraedi flagship more confused than before, without the recording of the broadcast. Rick is caught in the blast, stunned until the competition announces and crowns the winner.

Minmei wins the title of Miss Macross hands down and becomes the official Queen of the City.
