Major John Carpenter was an officer of the Robotech Expeditionary Force who returned to Earth during the Second Robotech War as part of the Robotech Relief Expedition. He was notable as being one of the first humans to return to Earth from the expedition.
History[]
Carpenter and his crew arrived unexpectedly in the midst of the Second Robotech War and immediately engaged the Masters' ships. Facing unimaginable firepower, his assault met near-instant annihilation and led to the loss of his vessel Recon One. Escaping in a pod along with much of his crew, Carpenter was met by Dana Sterling and spoke briefly with her about the engagement, expressing such dismay at the power of the Masters that he worried his having acted might even have endangered the Robotech Expeditionary Force by exposing the limits of their capabilities. He later explained to Supreme Commander Leonard and General Emerson that there would be no more assistance coming from the SDF-3 for the foreseeable future. (Masters Saga: "Outsiders")
