An Invid Flagship.
The Flagship was a large starship developed by the Invid and used as the primary vessel by the Regent. In appearance, it was much larger than troop carriers and shaped as a starfish. Based on the known dimensions of the troop carriers and the SDF-3, Invid flagships were at least a mile long.
One flagship was dispatched to Tirol under the command of Commander Senep and directed by an Invid Brain after the loss in communications with the Invid garrison on the planet. This vessel would be destroyed by the crew of the Farrago in a surprise assault which saw the defeat of the Invid forces.
Another flagship was used by the Regent's forces in an ambush of the Sentinels at Praxis.
After engagements with the Robotech Expeditionary Force, the Regent created a clone of himself to be used as an ambassador to the Humans. The actual Regent would later use the flagship as his transport that orbited Haydon IV and departed after he was defeated on that world by the Sentinels.
Note[]
Invid flagships were never shown firing on targets or deploying weapons platforms. Considering that they were involved in battles, were sometimes alone without any fleet escort, and carried the Regent or fleet commander it's likely that they were also warships not just command ships. Therefore they were likely equipped with energy beam or pulse weapons, and/or carried smaller Invid ships (e.g. carriers) and mecha.
Behind the scenes[]
These vessels do not make an appearance in Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles with a new ship instead seemingly taking their role namely the Invid Supercarrier.
