- January, Little White Dragon, the first movie produced in space, premiers on board the SDF-1.
- January, construction of the Grand Cannon is completed at Alaska Base.
- March, during an invasion of the SDF-1, several Zentraedi soldiers defect; medical examinations of the defectors prove that the Zentraedi are genetically identical to Humans.
- April, Miriya Parina and Max Sterling, the first Human-Zentraedi couple, are married aboard the SDF-1.
- April, Breetai declares a cease-fire, and sends Minister Exedore to the SDF-1 to conduct negotiations.
- April, Dolza and the Imperial Grand Fleet arrive at Earth, and the final battle of the First Robotech War is fought.
- May, Reconstruction begins.
- Zeraal begins to rally Malcontent support behind him in preparation for the Zeraal Campaign.
- Curitiba is partly destroyed.
